Cartier, the eminent jewelry design and fashion house wasn’t always that exuberant multinational affair. But the beginning of this epic business was started with one man who had amazing skills that would make history. Bolinder Stockholm held recently an event in our flagship store with the jewel experts and gemologists Caroline Tüür och Victoria Astudillo as presenters. They gave a lecture about Cartier Story to our VIP customers. To all of you that did not make it to our event this time; here is the story.
Why the Cartier Became So Iconic
The house of Cartier was founded by Louis Francois Cartier in 1847. Cartier was 29 years old and he took over the jewelry workshop of this master Adolphe Picardat. Moreover, the workshop was situated in Rue Montorgueil Paris.
The valuable clients of the workshop were wonderstruck by the brilliant designs of the jeweler. Perhaps in 1847, Alfred Cartier's son of Louis Francois took over the charge of the company and decided to expand it.
Over a period of time, the popularity of Cartier boomed. People all over the world knew about the excellent works that Cartier offers. In 1904, the company moved its headquarters to 13, Rue de la Paix. Meanwhile, Jacque another brother among the Cartier brothers went to London.
In less than two years they received the Royal Warrant and thereby they could supply jewelry to King Edward VII. Moreover, in the year 1914, Pierre the youngest of all brothers traveled to New York to acquire 653 Fifth Avenue in exchange for two strands of finest pearl.
The company by then had expanded globally becoming the exquisite jewelry house in the world. The elite group of people has always been regular clients of the Cartier.
